HLTH 3713 - Seniors Residential Site Operations

Course Description

Students develop an understanding of the scope of managerial oversight in seniors’ residences. Students will explore the responsibilities and accountabilities of the manager including managing changing populations within varied segments of the industry (e.g. independent living, assisted living, etc.), sales and marketing, risk management, labor relations in the workplace, staff development and residential services.

Learning outcomes

Identify and develop strategies for sales and marketing in the seniors living industry.
Identify relevant risk management issues and strategies related to staff and residents.
Analyze the importance of labour relations actions and strategies in maintaining consistent, safe residential operation.
Describe the importance of planned staff development.
Explain the delivery and supervision of the various services and standards surrounding hospitality, support, and clinical services in the seniors living environment.
