WTTP 1831 - Mechanical Systems 2 and Energy Management

Course Description

This course is a continuation of Mechanical Systems 1 and Water Distribution. Students are introduced in more detail to the selection, operating principles, adjustment, and maintenance of mechanical equipment used in water and wastewater treatment processes and facilities. The course is arranged in four general sections, starting with moving water, process equipment, pumps, as well as energy conservation management.

Learning outcomes

Describe the water and wastewater treatment process pathway as it relates to moving water.
Explain secondary process equipment related to wastewater treatment.
Describe municipal water and wastewater pumping.
Implement strategies for energy efficiency and conservation in water and wastewater treatment facilities including a detailed understanding of Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs).

To successfully complete this course, students must achieve a passing grade of 70% or higher on the overall course and 50% or higher on the final mandatory exam.
